In Vitro Pharmacologist/Cell Biologist, Oncology

Full Time in Natick, MA

Based in Natick, MA we are searching for an experienced in vitro pharmacologist to help execute our strategic vision.


Summary
Reporting to Program Lead of in vitro pharmacology, the candidate will be an experienced, self-motivated, and resourceful pharmacologist to join a team focused on the discovery and characterization of novel drug candidates that modulate cellular phenotype for the treatment of cancer. Candidates should have a basic understanding of cellular oncology, laboratory experience with implementation of in vitro oncology assays for evaluating the activity and mechanism of drug candidates. The successful candidate will be an independent contributor and work directly with cross-functional project teams to support pre-clinical programs.


Job Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of cell-based assays for drug candidate evaluation, mechanistic studies, and biomarker development

  • Perform cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemical techniques including primary and tumor cell culture, multi-parameter flow cytometry, ELISA, RT-PCR, viral transduction, mammalian cell transfection, western blotting and HTRF analyses

  • Perform a wide range of assigned research experiments with efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail, conduct analyses and report results, as well as contribute to design of experimental procedures and search literature for targeted information.

  • Independently develop and follow protocols and function with minimal supervision

  • Interact with manager and project team to review data and plan next steps

  • Record experimental details and maintain laboratory notebook

  • Cultivate positive and productive working relationships with colleagues

  • Prepare and present work at group meetings

  • Remain flexible to changing priorities

  • Be respectful of laboratory safety policies and practices


Qualification Prerequisites

  • Completed BS in Cell Biology (or relevant discipline) and minimum of 4+ years of pharmaceutical laboratory experience required; or

  • Completed MS in Cell Biology (or relevant discipline) and minimum of 2+ years of pharmaceutical laboratory experience required

  • Solid understanding of scientific mechanisms and experimental techniques, with knowledge of cancer cell biology preferable

  • Relevant skills include proficiency in cellular biology techniques (flow cytometry, intracellular staining, cytotoxicity assays, ELISA, Western Blots, etc.)

  • Ability to multitask, independently organize time and plan specifics of work

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated in a team environment


Skills/Knowledge Required

  • ORGANIZATIONAL/JUDGEMENT

    • The incumbent must have planning skills for scheduling experimental studies to meet project team deadlines. The position requires problem solving ability and skills in resolving technical questions in a multi-disciplinary environment. The incumbent must keep abreast of current techniques within the field.

  • ACCOUNTABITY

    • The position is responsible for executing research plans in the defined area of investigation under direction of their supervisor. This position has responsibility for the quality, quantity, timeliness, and scientific acceptability of drug discovery activities that result in data and reports required for internal decision-making.
